Looking for quiet campground in North or Central Florida

Turtleback RV Resort in Lake Panasoffkee offers a lot of peace and quiet with necessary amenities nearby. It is centrally located and makes day tripping fantastic. Management is helpful and the in-park amenities are great.

Hi Diane June 4 2010
We just wanted to say thanks for the nice week we had at Turtleback. We stayed on site 89 and we were very pleased with the
campground and all of the facilities. Everything was very neat and clean, and the staff was very curtious. We hope to come there again.
Thanks again , Ron and Judy R. received via Turtleback e-mail

Dear Diane,
Thank you for your generous donation of a weekend at Turtleback R.V. For our "Everyone needs some time away " basket.
We hear from many visitors to Sumter county how much they enjoy staying at the RV Park, and appreciate your contribution

I just want to tell you how much our Skyway Sam's Chapter enjoyed staying at Turtleback Resort this past week-end. They were very impressed with the lake side view,The spacious clubhouse, the clean rest rooms and the friendly faces that greeted them. The weather was perfect for the outdoor barbecues and the fire circles,I'm sure many will want to come back on their own.
You and your staff were always most gracious. George and I are looking forward to coming back next month sometime.
Sincerely

One of our favorites and totally undiscovered treasures is Turtleback RV Resort at Lake Panasoffkee, FL. Wonderful lake for boating and fishing. Boat rentals available. They have a great heated pool and an active social schedule of bingo, pot lucks, etc. The area is centrally located making day trips to either coast, produce markets and any dining experience you might want a very easy thing to do. My problem is leaving the serenity of the park to go do things!
What a nice find. Like some others, we were looking for a new place for next winter. At least one other couple from our "old" place will be joining us for sure and possibly some more. Buz & Gab

September 2009 $14 One of the best RV Parks in the Lake Panasoffkee area. The Manager, is just wonderful and the full-time campers are very friendly. The bathrooms are very clean and the pool is inviting. You have river access to the Lake and there are docks to park your boat. You can rent canoes, small fishing boats and a pontoon boat for very reasonable rates. They honor all the major club cards. I rented site #33 where I put my 38-foot fifth wheel with three slides and had plenty of room and full hookups with the exception of cable TV. Rate reflects Passport America discount. I will be back soon. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Turtleback is a great park to visit or to live year-around. They have staff that are professional and very helpful. The pool is always crystal clear, the laundry room clean. The fishing here is great. Catfish, bass, bluegill, specks, turtles and of course the gators. They have a dock you can fish off of, and slips to keep your boat in while you’re here. The setting is very relaxing. The sites are numerous and you can be right down by the water. I live here and I love it! It is centrally located with easy access to all the attractions and 1/4 mile from I-75. Read the other reviews and you will be impressed.
let me share with u a fish story that happened today …David the manager enjoys fishing in the evenings. We were down fishing ,something snapped Davids line and took his bobber.. 20 mins later we noticed something orange floating, all of a sudden with a very excited voice David said, THATS MY BOBBER !!!so we watched this bobber just boppin along about 50 feet or so. David said i should go get it, he was a lil torn with this thought well 15 mins later.. all of a sudden he jumped like old saint nick and off he went in the row boat with a paddle he looked like the great Florida warrior !!! well 10 mins later he scooped that fish up !!! it was a cat fish !!! AMAZING… as we say in the south, ya’ll come down now, ya hear ??

My wife and I stayed there for a brief visit in January 2009. We found it very enjoyable and relaxing. All the facilities were kept very clean, (Pool, bathrooms, showers, laundry room, rec room) the managers were very friendly and the location was excellent. We had a nice view of the lake.
We will certainly be back again!

March 2009 $28 This is a park that has risen from the ashes, so to speak. The current owners have hired a very professional, on site management couple who have a lot of experience in campground resort management. The results are nothing short of amazing. The old tumble down junk has been removed from the park. Most sites are upgraded with patios and 50A service. The rest rooms/showers, laundry facilities, pool, etc. are well stocked and clean. These folks are the most accommodating hosts one could ask for. We came here for a week after we left our 'regular' wintering spot on a fact finding mission for next year. That week turned into two weeks because we didn't want to leave! We left a deposit for next year when we return for three months. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Dear Diane and David,
Rusty and I are very pleased, and only wished that the RV Resort we stay at in Ohio was as nicely kept as Turtleback is. We hope we’ll be able to come back again. Thank you, Teresa and Rusty. Nov.. 8 2008

We have been here before and I was pleasantly surprised in how many improvements they have made in such a short amount of time. Everything here was a good experience. The management and staff seem to bend off backwards to make sure that we were happy. We will look forward to coming back. We camped here in a Motor home.

Great Place We have only spent 1 night here at the end of March, and have signed up for the 6 & 6. We were so impressed with this park that we moved from another park that we have spent our winters in for the last 4 winters. We can't wait to come back and stay this coming winter. We decided to leave our 5th wheel there year round, due in part to the high cost of diesel fuel and Roger has Parkinson's disease and does not like pulling it back and forth to MI. We were a little worried about the security leaving it but felt very safe after talking to the people that are in charge. We looked at this park last Dec.. and didn't even stop to talk at the office as it was so run down, a friend in our old park went out looking for a new park and told us that we should check this one out!!! So we went back in March and couldn't believe it was the same place, so many improvements!!! Just wonderful people to deal with and the residents that we talked to were so nice.

Enjoyed our stay We had stayed here before and was very skeptical about coming again. But They have really done a lot. Turtleback is quite and scenic, lots of the Old Florida charm and wildlife. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We will return with-out hesitation.
